[In front of her house in Fayren, Colette will find a huge box with her name written on a card on top of it. Inside the box there's A cute bed for her dog, a pair of glow in the dark earrings and a matching necklace. The presents come with another card inside that reads in Scott's handwriting

"May the good times and treasures of the present become the golden memories of tomorrow. Wishing you lots of love, joy and happiness. Merry Christmas and Happy Secret Santa!

A few days later, Scott will receive a thank you card in the mail with a note from Colette inside saying:

Dear Scott,

Thank you so, so much for the lovely gifts! Pookie loves his new bed - it's his favorite place! I love the earrings and necklace you picked out. They're both so pretty!

I hope you and Horatio had a great holiday and I hope to see you in the new year!

[Ah, what a cute card. He saves it with the others he got for Christmas and smiles at her note, glad that she liked the presents.]

[December 24th | Afternoon] Yes they live in the same house, but still....

There's a Christmas card left at the front door that reads:

"May the Christmas season fill your home with joy, your heart with love and your life with laughter. Happy Holidays!"

And then it's just signed:

[Colette smiles when she sees the card; how adorable! What a great tradition. She runs to the store and picks up her own card and fills it out quickly before leaving it on the doorstep for him with a giggle.

Inside, it reads:

I hope the holidays bring lots of cheer and good tidings for you in the year to come! Happy Holidays!

[Dray laughs when he finds the card and then places it in one of the shelves in his bedroom. Later on, once he sees Colette, he will give her an extra hug.]

December 24th

[Chiaki had left a stack of boxes. A couple were things like berries for her pokemon and clothing for them should they get cold.

For Colette herself, there is what appears to be a cute kitty hoodie that comes with ears on the hood.]

[upon returning from Fayren, Cloud gave himself a couple of days to rest up. it'd been a long month, after all. after returning from a trip through Nova City, he's suddenly reminded of something. unfinished business, or rather, an impromptu meeting. he's not sure how he'd do it, but,

"Just remember that you have people you can call on to help you if you need it."

maybe he didn't need any help, but as he listens to her message, he sighs softly. this was coming a bit late, but...]

Hey, it's Cloud... We talked when the blizzard hit. Sorry I took so long to call back. [apologizing for not calling... definitely a far cry from the kind of man he used to be. even if he was still reserved to a degree. but, he did tell her that he would. he goes quiet for a short moment as he's not sure what else to say. he's used to professional business messages when calling clients. not leaving messages for new friends.] ... anyway, I'm back now.

[said so matter of factly. he scratches the back of his neck, mentally kicking himself to wrap this message up] Call me whenever.

[It takes a couple of hours, but soon enough Colette is taking him up on his offer and giving him a ring back.]

Hi Cloud! Sorry I missed your call - I was helping out around the inn and I misplaced my phone. [There's a slight nervous laugh there. Such a dumb thing for her to do.] I'm really glad to hear you're okay! I was going to call you myself but I figured you were probably really busy. [Doing whatever it is he does.]

[She then recalls how their last conversation ended.] Um, you are okay, right?

I know how that goes. [losing his phone, that is. ...his old one is probably still sunk somewhere at the bottom of some water in the Forgotten City.]

[a lot had happened since they last spoke. the dream docks incident, discovering the fate of his world and his own future, storming through Fayren to try and rescue everyone from the Ice Queen. needless to say, things kept coming up. when Cloud answers Colette, he feels relieved. like saying it was actually pretty easy now.]

Yeah. I'm good. [a beat] Turns out January's a busier month than I thought.

[klutzette]

[Cloud had a hell of a month. Colette, on the other hand...]

I'm really glad to hear that you're alright. It's probably for the best we didn't meet up anyway; there was a really crazy storm here in Fayren and there were some monsters in the city too. It might not have been safe for you.

[...is blissfully unaware of all things Ice Queen. And Cloud's more than capable combat abilities. January had actually been pretty boring for her. Fought a few bears in the city, patched a few people up, worked... Same old same old.

Well, except for the bears part.]

It looks like everything's all cleared up now, though, which is really good - Pookie doesn't like going for walks when it's really cold out.

[he's really glad right now he decided to call her via voice instead of video. because he's totally free to let those words sink in as his gaze awkwardly shifts to the side with an unspoken "err..."]

Mm. You can go out without worrying about frostbite. [a beat] Pookie?

[Her voice gets noticeably brighter as she talks about her love.]

Pookie's my dog! He's a little pompsky and he's just the cutest, yes he is! [Her voice shifts to pet voice for a sec as she nuzzles her face against Pookie's, who gives a happy little yap in return.

Honestly it's probably better that Cloud can't see this too.]

I found him in the street a few months ago so I took him in and he's just such a good boy! Dray even likes him even though he doesn't like dogs. [Though he'll never admit it.]

That's really good about the weather, though I'll miss the snow. It's always so pretty, especially out here in the woods, though when it gets to be a lot it can be a problem getting out sometimes.

[as he listens over on his end, the cutesy pet voice surprises him. between her glee and the happy pup's yap in kind, it was almost too much. enough so that even if he couldn't see her right now, he could at least imagine it all the same.

which is why, as brief as it was, it actually earned something not so commonly heard out of Cloud. a little laugh before being left with a little smile on his face as he listened to her go on about her dog. he was just fine with being the listener. he was better at that.]

Guess you get snowed in?

[Cloud's light laugh makes Colette giggle a little herself. She's not sure why, exactly. Maybe it was just that the last time they had spoken things had been a little more serious so she was glad to hear him relaxed. Regardless, she's smiling on the other side of the line and it's only half because of Pookie.]

Only for a couple of days here and there. When it's not too windy I can fly to town or the gate, but big gusts can make it hard; I had to spend the night at one of my inns once. Luckily Dray and I had stocked up pretty well, though, so we weren't short on supplies.

[The fact that Dray hunts was certainly a help. Even if the path to town was blocked off, there were still things living around the nest that they could eat.]
